Hickam withstood a spirited second-half comeback by Naval Station Pearl Harbor (NAVSTA) to earn a 77-71 victory in the Hickam Air Force Base 8th Annual Aloha Classic Basketball Tournament at Hickam Fitness Center, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, on April 23.
Besides Pearl Harbor and Hickam, the week-long tourney welcomed a total of seven men's and three women's teams from Fort Shafter, Schofield Barracks, Tripler and Marine Corps Base Hawaii.

The Kunia Cavemen, a team comprised of players from Navy Information Operations Command-Hawaii (NIOC), broke open a close game by scoring 10 runs in the bottom of the third to storm past Allen's, 16-8, in an Ashore Intramural Softball League matchup at Millican Field, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, on April 27.
Crommelin bounces back to rally past Chicago

Timely hitting and a vacuum-like infield helped USS Crommelin (FFG 37) come from behind to defeat USS Chicago (SSN 721), 9-5, in an Afloat Intramural Softball League game at Millican Field, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, on April 24.
The triumph improved Crommelin's league record to 2-1 as Chicago saw its mark drop to 1-3.
Pacific Aviation Museum hosts ‘Women in Aviation’

The Pacific Aviation Museum held the first "Women in Aviation" conference on April 16-18, to provide information about the women who blazed the trail for female aviators.
The three-day event included enhanced exhibits, an industry career field and speeches given by female aviators for the museum patrons.
Naval Health Clinic pitches in for victory

Naval Health Clinic Hawaii (NHCH) pitcher, Hospital Corpsman Isaac Garcia, threw five shutout innings to lead his team to a 7-3 win over We Fix Ships (WFS) in an Ashore Intramural Softball League game at Millican Field, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, on April 20.
The win evened out NHCH's record to 2-2, while WFS, a team comprised of Sailors from Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard (PHNSY) Regional Dive Locker, fell to 1-3.
NIOC Hawaii's Family Readiness Group hops into spring with annual bunny hop

Naval Information Operations Command (NIOC) Hawaii's Family Readiness Group (FRG) recently hosted its annual bunny hop event.
It brought together the various command organizations and invited the command's families to enjoy the festivities. With more than 30 children in attendance, there was food, games and arts and crafts to entertain. The pinnacle of the gathering was the egg hunt where hundreds of eggs were spread out for all to find.
Combined squad beats SEALS in OT shootout

Pacific Command/Joint Intelligence Operation Center (PACOM/JIOC) needed an overtime shootout to defeat SEAL Delivery Vehicle Team One (SDVT-1) in a battle of third-place teams during a soccer intramural league game at Ward Field, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, on April 17.
With the victory, PACOM/JIOC improved its record to 5-1, as SDVT-1 dropped down to fourth place with a league mark of 4-2.
Navy pumps up bodybuilding championships

The old question of, "Where's the beef?" was emphatically answered, when 22 hulked-up contestants paraded onto the stage at the 27th Annual Armed Forces Bodybuilding Championships at Sharkey Theater, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, on April 17.
JIOC hoopsters knock off Nasty Pac

Joint Intelligence Operation Center (JIOC) used a strong first quarter to beat Nasty Pac, a team from Naval Submarine Training Center Pacific, 48-34, in an Ashore Intramural Basketball League at Naval Station Gym, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, on April 12.
JIOC, the league's second-place team, improved its overall record to 11-2, while Nasty Pac dropped to 3-9.
NEX to give five-cent credit when using 'green bags'

Navy exchanges (NEX) worldwide are initiating a new program to help customers save money and to help the environment. Beginning April 21, customers will receive a five-cent credit toward their purchase for each eco-friendly reusable bag that is carried into the NEX by the customer and used to bag that day's purchase.
