Cmdr. Scott Young relieved Cmdr. Butch Dollaga as commanding officer of Los Angeles-class submarine USS Charlotte (SSN 766) during a change of command ceremony April 16 at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam.
The guest speaker was Capt. Lee Hankins, chief of staff, Submarine Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet. He praised Dollaga for his exceptional performance as commanding officer from April 2008 to April 2010.

Since its inception, Commander, Navy Installations Command has been involved with anti-terrorism and emergency preparedness training in response to lessons learned from previous natural and man-made disasters. Those lessons are outlined in the Presidential Report on the Federal Response to Hurricane Katrina, which read, "An investment in the continued training and exercises of our command and control is a top priority."

JIOC hoopsters knock off Nasty Pac

Joint Intelligence Operation Center (JIOC) used a strong first quarter to beat Nasty Pac, a team from Naval Submarine Training Center Pacific, 48-34, in an Ashore Intramural Basketball League at Naval Station Gym, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, on April 12.
JIOC, the league's second-place team, improved its overall record to 11-2, while Nasty Pac dropped to 3-9.
NEX to give five-cent credit when using 'green bags'

Navy exchanges (NEX) worldwide are initiating a new program to help customers save money and to help the environment. Beginning April 21, customers will receive a five-cent credit toward their purchase for each eco-friendly reusable bag that is carried into the NEX by the customer and used to bag that day's purchase.
Forest City follows up on speed bump requests from residents

Navy family housing residents have been asking for speed bumps in their communities to help reduce traffic speed. Now, Forest City is following up on those requests and has begun installing speed bumps in almost all of the Navy family housing neighborhoods on Oahu.
"This project shows that we listen and respond to our residents," said Kari Diaz, general manager. "It shows our commitment to improving our neighborhoods whenever possible."
